As a Macquarie University student you will join a diverse and welcoming community of 33,000 students, with 10,400 international students from over 114 countries.

Ranked among Australia's nine top universities and within the top 40 in the Asia-Pacific region (Shanghai Jiao Tong University Academic Rankings of World Universities, 2009), Macquarie University is recognised for its innovative curriculum, high-quality teaching and research, and unique campus environment. Macquarie University ensures that our students develop qualities, skills and knowledge that are essential to succeed in a challenging, changing world.

Campus location and facilities
Macquarie University's North Ryde campus is located in parklands only 30 minutes drive (15 kilometres) north-west of Sydney Harbour and Sydney's central business district.

The modern campus is set on 126 hectares of peaceful parkland in one of Australia's premier high-technology corridors. The campus features eateries and recreational facilities, in addition to extensive library and computer facilities, a state-of-the-art Sport and Aquatic Centre, an acclaimed sculpture park, several museums and two hotels. The Macquarie Centre, a major shopping complex, is also on the doorstep of the campus.

In 2009, we became the first university in Australia to have its own train station on campus, meaning we're now connected to the city by underground rail. We also offer courses at our Macquarie City Campus in Sydney's city centre.

Research Focus
Macquarie's goal is to be among the top 200 research-intensive universities in the world by its 50th anniversary in 2014. Recently, Macquarie established the Australian School of Advanced Medicine, moved into high-technology engineering, and identified concentrations of research excellence (COREs), meaning that Macquarie concentrates on distinct research areas of the highest quality. Macquarie also has doctoral research partnerships with 53 universities from 22 countries.

Gaining leadership skills
Macquarie students have the opportunity to participate in the Global Leadership, Internship and Volunteers Abroad programs, which develop personal skills in adaptability, cross-cultural negotiation and leadership as well as allowing a better understanding of global issues, especially those of developing nations.

Macquarie has a dedicated International Student Services team, who can help with almost any enquiry - accommodation, health cover, fees, social activities, study skills workshops, and personal welfare. International Student Services provide a comprehensive orientation program for all international students at the beginning of each semester, and organise social events throughout the year.

Slide 1 Rubab Raza (Olympian Swimmer)

It’s a pleasure to see an organisation like AusPak where the staff as well as the head works as one unit and I could see how smoothly this caused matters to run within the company for everyone connected with it. Every person in the office knows what they are doing. After an initial assessment of my desperate situation, my case was forwarded to the head of AUSPAK, Mr. Sohail Rizvi, who handled it meticulously. It was all due to the efforts of Mr Sohail Rizvi and every single person working with him, that I am here in my second year at University, on a scholarship. Not only did they help out with the Visa procedure, but also advised me about accommodation and about living here in Australia. It was my dream to study at Macquarie University on full scholarship, and even though it seemed bleak initially but AUSPAK made it come true.
